Terms of Service

Last updated October 2026

1. About the Service

Action Journal is a personal trading journal. It records your trading activity, organizes it by account, calculates statistics such as win rate, profit factor and drawdown, and lets you attach notes and reflections to individual trades. The Service stores your data locally on your device and, when you enable it, synchronizes selected data to an online account.

The Service is a record-keeping and analysis tool only. It is not a broker, an exchange, an investment platform, a payment service, or a substitute for those services. It does not transmit orders to any market and does not guarantee the execution of any trade.

2. Eligibility

By using the Service you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher, and that your use of the Service complies with the laws that apply to you. You must not use the Service if you are located in a jurisdiction where the Service, or the trading providers you connect, are prohibited by law, or if you are subject to sanctions that prohibit you from using software services.

3. Accounts and Security

You must provide accurate information when you create an account and keep that information current. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activity that happens under your account, so notify us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

  • Do not share your account credentials with other people.
  • Do not use another person's account without their permission.
  • Keep recovery details, such as your email address, current and under your control.

4. Broker Accounts and Connected Data

The Service lets you record accounts you hold with third party brokers and trading platforms, such as Deriv and MetaTrader 5. Where a provider offers an authorized connection, such as an API token, you may choose to import trade history. You are responsible for keeping any token or credential private and for verifying what each connection is allowed to do.

We do not control your broker, the prices it shows, the accuracy of data it returns, or the availability of its connection services. Imported records may be incomplete or delayed, so confirm any figure against your broker statement before relying on it. You, not us, are responsible for placing, confirming, and managing trades with your broker.

5. No Investment Advice

The Service and everything shown in it, including statistics, charts, summaries, labels, and templates, is provided for information and self-reporting purposes. Nothing we publish, and nothing the Service generates from your own data, is investment, financial, legal, tax, or trading advice, and nothing is a recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell any asset, instrument, or product.

Trading leveraged instruments such as contracts for difference (CFDs), options, and foreign exchange carries a high risk. You can lose some or all of the money you commit, and in some cases more than your deposit. Past results and your own historical statistics do not predict future performance. You use the Service as a tool for your own decisions and you are fully responsible for those decisions.

6. Your Data

You own the trading records, journal entries, notes, and other content that you enter into the Service (your Data). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and display your Data for the purpose of operating and improving the Service. We do not sell your Data and we do not use it for advertising.

If you are located in a jurisdiction with data protection rules, such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the rights available to you under those rules, including access, correction, and deletion, are described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair it, or that interferes with another user's use of it. In particular, you will not:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Scrape, harvest, or automatically mine data from the Service at scale.
  • Attempt to access the Service, its servers, or connected accounts without authorization.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service, except where the law allows.
  • Upload malicious code, or content that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes another person's rights.
  • Misrepresent your identity, your accounts, or your relationship with us.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, interface, design, text, and brand marks, is the property of us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service. Nothing else is transferred to you, and you may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service except as expressly permitted.

Third party marks and products shown in the Service, such as Deriv and MetaTrader, belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the services you choose to connect.

9. Fees and Payments

The Service offers one free plan and two paid plans. The Free plan is a trial: it is valid for the seven days from the day your account is created, and it includes one connected trading account, three manual syncs a day, and seven days of imported history. When those seven days end, syncing and exports stop until you subscribe to a paid plan.

The paid plans are Basic, at USD 7.99 for one month or USD 76.99 for one year, and Plus, at USD 16.99 for one month or USD 163.99 for one year. Each plan sets its own allowances: connected accounts, manual syncs per day, how often syncing runs on its own, how far back a sync imports history, and how many exports you can make each month. Everything a plan includes, and the price of each period, is shown in the app before you commit to anything.

A paid plan is a one-time purchase of a fixed period, monthly or annual. Nothing renews on its own and no further payment is taken without you approving it: when the period you paid for ends, the plan lapses back to the Free state and syncing stops until you buy again. Because nothing renews, there is nothing to cancel, and you are never charged for a period you did not buy. Everything you already synced stays in your journal.

Payments are taken by our third-party payment providers, and every purchase is final and non-refundable. Our Refund Policy, listed beside these Terms on the About screen, states that rule in full, along with the narrow cases where the law still gives you a right we cannot take away. Your provider, such as an app store, may charge its own transaction terms, which you agree to separately.

10. Third Party Services

The Service depends on third party providers, including hosting, authentication, push notification, and image storage services, and may link to your broker or your public profiles. Your use of those links is subject to the terms and policies of their owners. We are not a party to any agreement between you and another provider, and we are not responsible for their services.

11. Privacy and Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your Data. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You can reduce risk by choosing a strong password, enabling device lock, and not sharing credentials. Details about what we collect and how we use it are in our Privacy Policy.

12. Availability and Updates

We may update, change, suspend, or remove features as the Service evolves, and we may apply updates to the app automatically. We aim to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error free. Maintenance, repairs, or factors outside our control may cause downtime.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided as is and as available. We make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Statistics and figures are derived from the data that reaches the Service and may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, savings, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service, even if we were told that those damages could occur.

Our total liability, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, will not exceed, in the aggregate, the greater of one hundred dollars (USD 100) or the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us and our officers, directors, and employees from and against any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another person.

16. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account and the data associated with it from inside the app, and you can uninstall the app at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or to protect our users, our systems, or others. Where practical, we will give you reasonable notice before termination. Clauses that by their nature should survive, including 5, 6, 8, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 18, continue after your access ends.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by email before they take effect. If you continue to use the Service after a revision takes effect, you accept the revised Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.

18. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence. If a dispute arises, we will first try to resolve it informally through the contact information in Section 19. If it cannot be resolved informally, either of us may bring proceedings in the courts that have jurisdiction where you live. Nothing in these Terms limits a right you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

19. General Provisions

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. You may not assign these Terms, but we may assign them to an entity that acquires the Service.
